So all is not lost but it doesn’t work as smooth as the Nitro printer did. I sure liked you while you were here but it is back to Adobe. I’m assuming you’re not part of an enterprise account with us, correct? ” We will only support our enterprise customers with Reader from now on. “So do I understand correctly that the free pdf reader is a discontinued product?” Please check our website periodically for updates.” We have no plans of fixing previous versions as of now but that could change as well. Our engineers are currently working hard on ensuring that our latest build of Nitro Pro 10 is functional and compatible with Windows 10. You have to keep in mind that Nitro Reader was released way before Windows 10 was and we had no way of knowing what changes Microsoft will make in their latest Operating System. “Unfortunately, Nitro Reader is not compatible with Windows 10. Here is the email conversation I had with them I suppose they weren’t making any money off of it so they decided to stop developing. That is a shame I used it as my primary reader. The have discontinued the free reader and are only supporting the Nitro 10 Pro enterprise version. I had the same problem with Nitro and it was crashing my print queue and hanging the system after upgrading to win 10. Now I need to check out my Epson inkjet photo printer…. Maybe, if you uninstall Nitro (or at least clear the print spooler), that your HP printer may work again. It occurs to me that maybe that was the same situation with your HP printer. Also, when I prompt computer to scan, it scans document to jiff type fine and not to PDF like before. In my experience, Nitro PDF Creator locked out ALL printer drivers, and I cold not print to any printer at all until I did the system restore. Hi I upgraded to Win 10 and my CLX3185FW will not scan to computer from printer. Hopefully, the developers will fix the problem soon and we can all return to the free PDF Reader/Creator we love so much!īTW, one other thing occurred to me. You can use Edge as your pdf reader in the meantime. My advice would be to uninstall Nitro Reader 3 at least for the time being, and use the built-in Microsoft Print to PDF function that is embedded in Windows 10. However, the post with the address was from 2013, and I don’t know if its still good. The suggestion above of contacting the developers is easier said than done, if you are using their free product! I eventually found an email address from another post on this forum, and I sent an email directly yesterday. As I say, I didn’t try this, but it may work. I didn’t try this but if you google something about “purge print queues” you will find some ways to get rid of the offending print jobs by temporarily stopping the spooler service, deleting the jobs, and restarting the service. So you may not have any restore points you can use. The solution I found was to use System Restore, but, for reasons unknown, I don’t believe this is activated by default in Windows 10. It locks up the print queues and even a restart doesn’t clear them. I ran into the same problem with Nitro PDF Creator. I can print to the Windows fax driver and the XPS document writer. When I try to use these devices, the source program goes into “Not responding” mode and just sits there. In this case the first time you run your application you should disable UAC and then you can enable it back.ģ - Call PDFDriverInit alone to install a printer each time the application runs, in this case UAC should be disabled from the user account and the user should have administrative rights.Ī - Functions PDFDriverInit and / or DriverInit should be called Once in your application, when lunching your application and not each time you print.ī - While using the PDF Converter on Windows 2000 and above developers and end users are advised to install the printer on the system once when launching the application for the first time and keep it there even after the application ends (i.e: use 1 or 2 from above) more information are available on the installation section of the Developers' manual "Common Driver Interface 250.pdf" that you get with the product.I upgraded my system on the first day and most everything seemed to go fine except for printing to my networked HP laser printer or a PDF printer driver from Nitro. In your application Call DriverInit ad not PDFDriverInitĢ - Call PDFDriverInit in your application followd by DriverInit (The printer is installed the first time you run your application but will stay on the system even when closing your application) To use the PDF Converter under Vista programatically you can do one of the following:ġ - Run Install.exe to install the Driver. DriverInit will work under Vista, it is only PDFDriverInit that will not work if UAC is enabled.
